Somatic Breathwork

Breath follows awareness, and awareness follows breath. The movement of the human respiratory system acts like an energy-awareness pump in the body. This practice is done either laying down on the back or seated, and the breath is intentionally in a conscious, connected, and relaxed way. You can choose to have the breath flow either in and out of the nose or mouth or a combination of the two, and as the practice deepens, the pauses between inhale and exhale are removed so that the flow of breath streams smoothly.

In a nutshell, breathwork facilitates the shifting our breathing pattern that allows for the lowering of our defence mechanisms. As this occurs, our ability to access parts of ourselves, old stressors, limiting beliefs and patterns and other as yet unresolved material previously held captive in our bodies is vastly increased.  By slowly and safely recalling these old pressures into consciousness, we are able to witness them in a new way and address them with corrective experiences while learning from and integrating them.

Breathwork is a powerful tool that is used to assist in regulating the nervous system, rehabilitate from trauma (including symptoms related to ptsd/c-ptsd), anxiety, relieving pain/tension, release held patterns/tensions/limiting beliefs, and in receiving/tuning into the subtle messages and wisdom of our body.

 

Each full session is approximately 2 hours.
