DIFFERENT MONSTERS

As children, many of us were afraid of the dark because we imagined monsters lived in the dark places. As adults, we know that there are no monsters in the darkness; only those emotions we have hidden away because we were afraid to show them to the world for one reason or another. These doubts, secret fantasies, anger, shame and guilts that we have no expression for - yet - bubble just under the surface in fear that there is no measure of love for them.

Words like anger, doubt, and fears are labels that help us understand emotions. Their meanings have been misunderstood and misused as judgements in our nervous systems. With curiosity, focused attention, and empathy we can cultivate a gentle practice of turning towards these parts of ourselves, offering the safety, inclusion, and expression so long denied bringing them into the light of understanding and integration.

Embodiment work is one of the more effective techniques available for exploring the relationship of the self. The aim of Embodiment work is to build a “go anywhere” toolbox of practices that explores the relationship between the parts or pieces of the physical body and our energy body. We employ the body itself as a tool for healing through self-awareness, mindfulness, connection, self-regulation, balancing and creating self acceptance.

When we turn towards our less know, see seen places, we begin to “see in the dark”. What we learn is that there are no monsters, only opportunity.
